Two Halves Make a Whole
Well.... Not in this case. They just make two split obelisks. As promised, here is a better view of the entrance into UofH showing both halves.

Doing a Split
This split obelisk, designed by the SWA Group, is the focal point of the Cullen Blvd. Entrance as you come into the campus of the University of Houston.
It has a twin, which I'll introduce to you tomorrow. Well... If you look, you can catch a glimpse of it in the reflection of the polished marble.

Riding the Rails...
Metro is busy constructing its new SouthEast Corridor light rail line that will run from downtown to near Palm Center.
This vantage point is taken from near the intersection of Live Oak and Texas. IF you look closely... you can see the new Dynamo Stadium (officially BBVA Compass Stadium) which is soon to be opened.

Celebrating Sisterhood
Presented to the City of Houston by its sister in Japan, Chiba, this Japanese Stone Lantern commemorates the 10th anniversary of that sisterhood back in October of 1982.
Not sure where the other anniversary gifts since then are located...

A Little Bit of the Far East
This Chinese Gazebo, located in Hermann Park is a great place to seek refuge from a quick rain shower or the beating sun.
It is also available for rentals and is a popular place for small weddings.

This wishing well, located in the courtyard on the backside of the recently reopened Juila Ideson Library is dedicated to the memory of Marget Skidmore, one of the founding members of the Preservation Committee that oversaw the building's rebirth.
