This replica of the San Jacinto Monument stands in front of what used to originally be San Jacinto High School. It was erected in 1995 to honor the students that attended from 1926 until 1970. Thankfully, the classic revival structure is being refurbished as part of the Houston Community College Central Campus.
Notable alumni from the high school include Dr. Denton Cooley and Walter Cronkite, and at one time had a public speaking instructor that went on to become President of the United States. Lyndon Johnson.
